My Passion for Pakistan
My name is Avais Mughal. I'm recognised as The King of Pakistan.
I made my royal debut at Edinburgh cricket ground.
around 10 years ago. Royalty runs in my blood so becoming the King of Pakistan came naturally to me.
Mughal by name, Mughal by nature.
The experience has always been amazing! Dressed in my royal attire, understandably, I stood out from the crowd. I did not expect to recieve such a warm welcome from the Pakistani cricket fans and also so much media coverage. My phone became bombarded with pictures and messages from family and friends reporting my presence on TV.
My passion for cricket started from a very young age. We would have the whole family over to watch in support of the Pakistani team. Everyone would be cheering and shouting along with the turns of the game. It truly felt like the famous saying of Nasser Hussain "One minute down next minute up."
The first match I saw live was in Edgbaston cricket ground. Pakistan v Australia in a T20i. My uncle and I decided to dress up as the Hulk and a Ninja Turtle to show our support for our boys in green. The excitement from the Pakistani fan base was unbelievable. It felt like there were more cameras on us than the players themselves. This experience motivated me to pursue my own character which is where the idea of King of Pakistan began. With the help and encouragement of my uncle the Sheikh of Pakistan, we designed a personalised costume for me to be recognised as this character worldwide.
My Journey
The highlight of my time as the King of Pakistan was the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final. This is one of the most talked about games in Pakistani cricket where Pakistan were up against India. India were the favourite to win as they had won most of their matches including beating Pakistan in the group stages. Despite this, I fully believed in the Pakistani team's abilities to win against the odds. Pakistan had an excellent start with their batting which helped post a very good score of 338 in a Finals. Pakistan bowling started of with a bang. Bowling a few rocket launchers. Withtheir exceptional skilled bowling attack taking all 10 indian wickets which had never been done in the Champions Trophy 2017. India was a strong team to beat having won all their games. Pakistan saved the best for last and won the match convincingly! The atmosphere and passion from the crowd throughout the match was the best I'd ever experienced. This is my favourite moment in cricket history. To have witnessed such a turn of events and seeing the Pakistan team lifting the championship cup is unforgettable.
Every player in the Pakistani team is highly skilled but my favourite has to be Babar Azam. I admire his sensible and strategically calculated approach, which has ranked him number 1 in ICC ODI batting rankings. My favourite bowler is the Eagle Shaheen Afridi. His precision and mastery on the grounds are unmatchable.
As the King of Pakistan, I hope to continue representing the Pakistani superfans showing our love for the green team. Pakistan zindabad!!!
Pakistan Zindabad!
