New Years Test: Day 4

New Years Test: Day 4

Day 4...

Still disheartened from the loss of wickets in the evening session the day before, we made our way to the stadium for an earlier than scheduled start.

A decent enough crowd mainly to see Warner play Test cricket for the very last time and more than I had thought Pakistan fans to see the much predicted whitewash.
A solid start from the two unbeaten batsmen from last night Rizwan and Jamal with a small partnership taking the lead to over a 100.

But the writing was on the wall and the resistance didn't last long with Rizwan caught at leg slip and Jamal with an unnecessary shot to be caught inside the boundary very soon after.

130 was the target and the only way we could defend that was if Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram came down from the commentary boxes and got their kit back on.
A standing ovation with a guard of honour by the Pakistan players for Warner signalled the start of the end of the Test and the series.

A glorious sunny day watching cricket away from the cold rainy weather in UK would suit anyone at this tine and after we were allowed to walk around on the SCG pitch and enjoy the views we made our way back to the hotels.

Day off tomorrow and half a day today so I'm off to Bondi beach to relax, get a suntan 😁 and grab an ice-cream. Oh what a life of a cricket fan.

See you all very soon sometime and somewhere around the world!
